Fair Oriana -- 9/12/2015
“Fair Oriana,” a celebration of the first great Queen of England — Elizabeth I. Through the works of Byrd, Morley, Weelkes, Tallis and more, get a glimpse into the life of the England’s most powerful monarch, including the music of her church, her court, as well as tributes to Her Majesty. Accompaniment by Valley lutenist Scott Saari.
Lament & Atone -- 2/13/2016
Experiencing sorrow is part of the human condition, and through grief, we learn to make amends. In a concert of early musical selections including chant, and works by Byrd, Palestrina, des Prez, Kuhnau, Gesualdo and more, join HELIOS at "Lament & Atone" as they explore the the contrasts of human existence through passionate expressions of sorrow and forgiveness.
With a Thankful Heart -- 11/8/2015
Giving thanks comes in many forms. Few are as powerful as music. Join HELIOS for "With a Thankful Heart" and experience heart-felt and meaningful expressions of gratitude to the divine above us and to the world around us. The performance will include pieces by Victoria, de Lasso, le Jeune, Rossi and Byrd.
Songs of a New World -- 5/21/2016
Helios closes out its inaugural season on with "Songs of a New World: Music of Spain, Portugal and Latin America" -- performing music with an Hispanic flair! Old and new world meet in this program featuring pieces by Encina, Padilla, Fernández, and Zéspedes as well as many more. From sacred to profane, sombre to jubilant; you will surely fall in love with these rediscovered treasures.
